So almond/cashew/coconut, etc. milk is a food that Dr. Gregor classifies as a yellow light. Meaning, it is should be used sparingly and only if it helps you get more of the good food in your body.

I give this chocolate milk treat to the kids on occasion and I get "cool mom" bonus points!šŸ˜ŽšŸ‘

Cacao and cocoa have amazing health benefits. Chocolate does not (added sugar and fat).

Cacao and cocoa:

-lower bad cholesterol -boost good cholesterol -lowers blood pressure -packed with flavanol phytonutonutrients (like green tea)

Here is a way to satisfy a sweet tooth and get an amazing superfood in your body!

Chocolate Milk Treat Smoothie

(serves 1-2 people)

INGREDIENTS:

-8 oz. unsweetened almond milk -1 banana -2 tsp cacao powder*

DIRECTIONS:

1. Blend in a high-powered blender. (Makes a large glass, perfect to split between my big kids.)

*Cacao powder can have stimulating effects. A great afternoon pick-me-up but some prefer not to give it to their children. Mine do not react at all to it. Please feel free to do your own homework!
